Our Care

Behavior support

Some of the people we support need help with behavior. That help is planned, written down, and reviewed — and it always starts from the person's rights.

Our guiding principle

Every behavior support plan uses the least restrictive methods available. Residents' dignity and rights are the foundation of every decision.

How we support residents

Behavior support is individualized, documented, and carried out by qualified professionals.

Behaviorist services

A qualified behaviorist provides behavior management for residents who need it, developing and overseeing individualized support plans.

Least restrictive methods

Care is always provided using the least restrictive methods. More intrusive approaches are only considered when less restrictive ones have been tried first.

Psychotropic medication monitoring

Psychotropic medications affect mood, thinking, or behavior. When a resident takes one, it is carefully monitored and managed to ensure it remains appropriate and effective.

Collaboration with psychiatrists

We work closely with each resident's psychiatrist to coordinate care, share observations, and follow through on recommendations.

Health and behavioral data collection

We keep detailed records of each resident's health and behavior so that decisions are based on what is actually happening, not assumptions.

Safeguards

Behavior support is never left to one person's judgment. Independent oversight and ongoing monitoring protect every resident.

Human Rights Committee oversight

The Human Rights Committee meets every quarter to review behavior support plans and ensure residents' rights are upheld. Read what the committee reviews.

Abuse prevention and monitoring

Abuse prevention and monitoring are ongoing in both homes. Staff are trained to recognize and report concerns, and all incidents are reviewed.
