Our Care

Rights and advocacy

The people we support are adults living in their own home. Their rights come before our routines.

Every resident has the right to

Dignity

To be treated with respect, as an adult.

Privacy

To have privacy in their own home.

Choice

To make choices about their own life.

Freedom from abuse and neglect

To be safe from abuse and neglect.

How those rights are protected

Least restrictive methods

Care is provided using the least restrictive methods.

A Human Rights Committee, every quarter

A Human Rights Committee (HRC) meets every quarter to review behavior plans, psychotropic medications and any restrictions on a resident's rights.

Abuse prevention and monitoring

Abuse prevention and monitoring are ongoing.

A voice in planning

Residents and families take part in planning through the semi-annual and annual Individual Program Plan (IPP) meetings.

Quarterly oversight

What is a Human Rights Committee?

A Human Rights Committee, or HRC, is a group that looks at anything in a resident's care that could limit their rights. At Serenity the committee meets every quarter. It reviews behavior plans, psychotropic medications (medications that affect mood, thinking or behavior), and any restrictions on a resident's rights. For families, it means these decisions are looked at regularly by a committee, and not left to one person.

If you have a question or a concern about a resident's rights, call us at (951) 878-7075.
